Weekend at Herdade do Sobroso – your refuge in Baixo Alentejo

In Herdade do Sobroso, on the banks of the Guadiana River, next to Alqueva, in the DOC Vidigueira Region where the Upper and Lower Alentejo meet, 660,000 cork oaks have been planted in recent years.

Sofia Ginestal Machado and Filipe Teixeira Pinto together developed the project Herdade do Sobroso Wine & Country House. This project combines wine production in one of the most extensive vineyards planted in the Alentejo with the architectural quality of the venue , a small hotel with contemporary local style and decoration. Since it’s Opening Herdade do Sobroso has been a promotor for tourism activies in this region.

The estate's intense and elegant wines, of great aromatic complexity and natural freshness, resulted from the respect for Nature and the unique terroir of the vineyard by the Guadiana River. Set in a region known for its rich gastronomy and conventual sweets, the Herdade do Sobroso Country House restaurant does not leave the credit in the hands of others. Here the menu is rich in regional products. It will be difficult to choose between so many dishes that even won prizes in prestigious gastronomy competitions since many years
