This trip will take you the the most beautiful landscapes of Portugal. Discover its historical castles and the best of its wines.
1. Day - Ola Lisboa
Arrival and transfer to your hotel chosen as by availability. Today we have prepared a fun discovery by TUK TUK in Lisbon with stop in one of the legendary cafés of Lisbon, so you can taste the famous Custard Cakes “Pasteis de Belem” At the end of the day for dinner you will go up the famous Avenida da Liberdade in order to get to know the “Sanctuary of Portuguese Wine” in a little side street; the Restaurant Sommelier! Here you can try wines by the glass from all different Portuguese regions. From the Vinho Verde to Port Wine. Welcome dinner in this fantastic place. This will be a sort of oenology trip through Portugal!
2. Day - Sintra and other Fairy Tales
Departure to Sintra in the morning to visit the romantic Palacio da Pena. You continue on to Colares and pass by the westernmost point of the European Continent. Casal Santa Maria Winery is the most western winery of the Continent and maintains its tradition of producing wines with great mineralogy that are even a bit salty and extraordinary in any way. Learn about the amazing story of this winery. Late lunch at the Adraga Restaurant situated on a tiny picturesque beach with the same name and famous for its excellent seafood and fish dishes.
3. Day - Alentejo, Land of Flavours
Departure in the morning in direction of Evora. Stop at the Monte da Ravasqueira one of the best wineries in Alentejo. Enjoy winetasting and lunch. In the afternoon you will visit the charismatic Wine producer João Portugal Ramos with his famous Marques de Borba Wines. Arrival in Evora at the end of the day. Check-in at the Pousada de Evora. Before your dinner enjoy a walk through this World Culture Heritage Site. Dinner at your disposal. Try the regional food in one of the authentic “tascas”, regional restaurants.
4. Day - Alentejo , Land of Flavours
This day will be dedicated to learn about traditional wine making in Alentejo. Departure in direction south from Evora with a stop at the tiny and picturesque village of Monsaraz. Stroll through the small lanes and enjoy the wonderful view over the landscape and Alqueva Dam. Now you continue to Esporão Estate. This Winery is part of the World Wine Route and quickly you will know why. This is one of the most remarkable Wineries in Portugal. Visit it by Jeep and try its olive oil and wines during a delicious wine pairing lunch. Return back to Evora. To round up this trip to Alentejo visit the Adega Cartuxa Enoteca that is situated just in front of the Pousada. Want to try a Glass of Pera Manca ?? This is one of the world famous Portuguese Red Wines.
5. Dia - Traditions about Wines and Horses
Departure from Evora in direction North. On your way we stop in Muge where the famous Casa de Cadaval Estate is situated. Apart from its excellent Wines that belong to the demarcated Tejo region, Casa Cadaval maintains the tradition of breeding the Lusitano Horses. Participate in tractor tour to the Estate, before you will be served a delicious regional lunch that fits perfect with this wines full of character. After lunch we continue our trip to Ourem situated near Fatima. In the afternoon you still should take your time to visit the Batalha Monastery, which is one of the most important historical sites of the Country and a perfect sample of Manueline Arquitecture, unique in Portugal. Overnight at the Pousada de Ourem; dinner at your disposal.
6. Day - The Heart of Portugal
Coimbra é uma lição de sonho e tradição o lente é uma canção e a Lua a faculdade o livro é uma mulher só ... says a famous fado song. Coimbra is a lesson of dreams and tradition … One more time you will be thrilled by the diversity this little country on the edge of Europe offers. The morning will be dedicated to the visit of Coimbra University, one of world’s oldest Universities. For lunch we suggest the yet largely unknown Costa Nova where all houses have stripes. In the afternoon take a boat ride in the channels of Aveiro, Portugal too has its own Venice. Your bed is prepared in a Palace in Porto, this unique city that gave its name to Portugal and the Port wine.
7. Day - Porto Discovery
Porto, Lady in Grey the Unbeatable, the “Invicta” !
You cannot miss to visit its ancient cathedral and to take a walk at the riverside, the Ribeira, the historical downtown of Porto, also declared a WorldHeritage Site by Unesco. Cross the famous D. Luis Bridge to reach the Ramos Pinto Wine Cellars. Getting to know the history of this emblematic Portwine lodge is truly amazing. Finalize your visit with a tasting of Port, pairing it with the best portuguese chocolate. Now you have freetime to get a lunch bite and discover Porto on your own or do some shopping in the lively Santa Catarina Shopping street. Vinum is the elegant restaurant that the famouse Wine Producer Symington has opened recently. This is where we have reserved your dinner in order to try the fantastic wines of this renowned producer.
8. Day - OHHH Minho !
«Havemos de ir a Viana « – We need to go to Viana - is a famous Fado Song from Amalia Rodrigues, the world known Fado Singer. Paying a visit to Minho is worthwhile as this is one of the most beautiful landscapes Portugal has to offer. This area is oftenly called - The Green Heart of Portugal - and it is where the Atlantic coast is blended with plenty of Vinho Verde wines and beautiful historical villages. In the morning you reach Viana do Castelo, city of stunning beauty situated at the mouth of river Lima. From the Church of Santa Luzia and its viewpoint you will be able to appreciate a wonderful view over the city. For lunch get some delicious seefood snack at the Port of Viana and match it with fresh Vinho Verde. In the afternoon continuation to Guimaraes, the city where Portugal was born. Walk through this charismatic little town. Finally get a rest at the Pousada de Guimaraes, a former monastery and unique in every way. Enjoy dinner at its restaurant with a cosy genuine local touch.
9. Day - Douro – the World’s first demarcated Region …
In the morning departure from Guimaraes to Peso da Regua do visit the Quinta do Vallado Wine Estate. This Wine Estate is part of the famous Douro Boys Brand which is well-known for the excellent red wines and Ports. For the lunch we suggest the Quinta Nova da Nossa Senhora do Carmo that belongs to the Amorim Group, one of the largest cork producer in the world. Today Quinta Nova is well-known for the quality of its wines and its olive oil, but more than any other thing it is the location which offers the best of all views over the wine terraces and the Douro river. In the afternoon walk through the vineyards and enjoy a boat trip on Douro River in a Rabelo Boat, a typical embarkation that formerly served to transport port wine barrels from the valley to Villa Nova de Gaia where the port wine lodges are situated. At the end of the afternoon transfer back to Guimaraes. Free time to relax. Dinner by your own organization.
10. Day - ADEUS PORTUGAL
In the morning transfer to the city of Porto. (Transfer time is about 50 minutes) Free time for you in this fantastic city that has seen a lot of innovation in recent years while rediscovering and maintaining its genuine traditions. Timely transfer to the airport for your return flight.
