This southernmost region of Portugal is mostly known for its magnificent beaches. Due to a lot of construction activity in the main tourist development period, its wine traditions have been on the back burner during the last decades. Nowadays you can again discover very interesting wines and farms in the Algarve. The Wines of the region through modern technologies and the rediscovery of some autochthonous grape varieties like Negra Mole and Castelão and in the white wines Síria and Arinto have gained a lot of quality. Nowadays to dedicate oneself to Wine Tourism in the Algarve is already a very rich experience! Especially in the western part of the triangle between Loulé, Silves and Portimão, in the hills of the Algarve, there are some very interesting producers. Visiting them can be a very pleasant alternative to the activities on the beach.
