Dão

Dão, the inland region of Portugal, just south of the Douro, mountainous with beautiful mountains, villages and granite towns in the interior of Portugal, is a paradise still known by few. Many indigenous Portuguese and also international grape varieties are used here, but it is Touriga Nacional, the Portuguese grape variety par excellence, that has its preferred region in this area. Velvety and balanced red wines of great quality and authenticity are the result. Cities and towns like Santa Comba do Dão, Viseu, Tondela or Penalva do Castelo, rich in tradition and history are worth a visit. Quinta do Perdigão, Casa Santar or Casa Mouraz are some of the most charismatic producers whose wines you cannot miss.
